Week four of this year’s Poetry Month series is curated by Caits Meissner, who writes: “all of the writers featured in our final week are either in, or have served time in, jail and/or prison. But I didn’t choose them with the intention to illuminate the experience of incarceration — though many of the essays do, of course — or to advocate for anything other than the poets who spark up their blood. In 2020, when we decided to go ahead with the Poetry Month series, central to that decision was a commitment to allowing whatever curator and contributor bodies could handle, refusing to subject participants to the pressures of productivity culture in the increasingly trying early days of the COVID pandemic. Rather than skipping days or scrambling to replace people, I made an editorial decision to institute “rest” days, holding space for this intention, making it visible and tangible rather than an absence. Choosing to have this year be the final year is, in a way, about a similar choice: recognizing when…

An archival exhuming for World Autism Day of Awareness

This is the first public entry of a larger, forthcoming project I’m calling “Proxy Forensics,” relating to my work around the archive, and particularly to re-articulating personal relationships to the objects in our lives and homes, as part of a process of healing from trauma.
